The Black Death

Much has been written about Coronavirus and the pandemic and it is the first and we hope only pandemic we will ever experience. But pandemics are not new, there have been at least 15 previous such events in recorded history and remarkable, DNA testing is providing some very interesting information about the Black Death in the 1300’s when 200m people died. It all centres around changes in a particular gene and if you had the right genetic code, you were 40% more likely to survive the plague infection.
